Become a Paid Video Producer for Current TV

By Gretchen Siegchrist, About.com

What is Current TV?:

Current TV is a social issue television network specializing in viewer created content. Videos are broadcast on the Current web site, as well as on cable and satellite channels. Anyone is invited to upload videos to Current TV. Submit yours and you have the chance to make money and be seen in millions of homes.

What Can I Submit to Current TV?:

Current TV accepts “Pods,” which are “self-contained videos, usually under 7 minutes, that tell a story, profile a character and/or share an idea,” as well as VCAMS, or viewer created ad messages.

Current TV lists Pod assignments for which you can submit videos. Topics range from nitrous oxide and hooking up to affirmative action and the declining dollar. If you don’t like any of those topics, you’re welcome to submit a video about anything else at any time.

For the VCAMs, you create a video ad, as dictated by the sponsor. You get paid if the video is shown on Current or on another television station.

How Do I Get Paid by Current TV?:

Payment by Current TV is on a “per-pod basis,” and VCAMs are paid based on where they’re broadcast.
